Every Thursday in December the Museum holds its traditional White Nights, initiated and sponsored by the Jerusalem Municipality. Entrance is free, with special programs offered for adults and youth which include new exhibit, workshop, tours, gallery-talks and more.

The MakeLight exhibit is an annual theme exhibit featuring the work of MAKERS from all over the country. This year’s exhibit, Light Outside the Box  is a tribute to the Games in Light and Shadow exhibit that the museum has presented in the past four years. It uses fun and games to sheds light on the relationships between the source of light, the body casting a shadow and the area on which the shadow falls. Light Outside the Box exhibit is a celebration of art and creativity and an examination of how far the boundaries of a familiar, everyday phenomenon such as casting a shadow can be pushed.
The contemporary, interactive, humorous works are a unique blend of modern artistry, frequently blurring the lines between art and the principles of science and technology. They invite viewers to become part of the process of creation, fashioning their own works, meeting with MAKERS, and conducting gallery talks.

Hamshushalayim is also offering a Light Box workshop, inspired by MakeLight. Families and adults are invited to use their imagination and design their own ecological creations. The LIGHT BOXES will be incorporated into one overall structure to be displayed every evening throughout the Hamshushalayim events. Register for the workshop at the Museum Information desk. The number of places is limited.
'On Fire', a scientific demonstration with audience participation incorporating fire and chemicals, will take place every evening. How is colored fire made? We’ll ignite the ‘burning bush’ to learn how magicians burn disappearing paper, see how fireworks can be immersed in water, use a drill and spin fireworks to create a spectacular cascade of sparks, and end with a huge, blazing tornado.
Guided tours of Games in Light and Shadow and the Fields of Tomorrow exhibit will be conducted several times each evening.

Dates and times: 1st, 8th, 15th, and 22nd December from 21:00 – 01:00Admission free.
